With the use of pulley systems and a smart design, these compact pieces of equipment can take care of all your fitness needs, giving you a true total-body exercise experience without having to move from one piece of equipment to another.
We wanted to see just how impressive they were, so we took a closer look at two of the most popular models on the market, the Weider Bench and the Total Body G5 to see which one came out on top and more importantly, which model deserves a place in your home.
Weider Ultimate Body Works Adjustable Incline Exercise Bench
This amazing bench from Weider is a total-body training system that can help you to get in shape and improve your fitness without ever going to the gym.
Designed to look like an incline bench, this piece of kit does so much more than simply support you as you lay down.
It comes equipped with a range of features to help maximize your training sessions including a comprehensive pulley system that you can use to build your muscles.
Through the use of resistance bands, you can make sure you get a good strength workout when you use this machine and with the ability to move the bench and adjust its position, you can be confident that you can use this Weider bench for a range of exercises.
It features some comprehensive features that will take care of all of your fitness needs and more than enough variations to make exercising at home one of your favorite things to do.
Total Gym APEX G5
The Total Gym Apex G5 is another adjustable weights bench that is proving to be very popular. Again it looks quite similar to an incline bench although the modern design of the G5 does look more like something you will find in a commercial gym. It has some great features that anyone looking to exercise at home would love and it also includes a pulley system to help you enjoy a challenging resistance workout session as you train your entire body. You can complete a range of exercises that target all your major muscle groups with this bench and thanks to the adjustable nature of the handles, and the bench itself, you can change your position with ease to complete different movements as you exercise.
How They Compare
Both the Weider bench and the Total gym G5 are very similar so we took a closer look to see if would identify a clear winner between the two.
We assessed all the major factors you would consider when looking at one of these benches and we’ve put the results down below.
So let’s take a look at what we found and see which one comes out on top.
Appearance & Design
Winner: Total Gym
Size and Storage
Winner: Total Gym
Comfort and Support
Winner: Total Gym
When we consider everything both benches were very closely matched.
Weider stood out as it didn’t take up quite as much room as the Total Gym bench and it provides a wider backboard which certainly helps you to feel more comfortable and at ease with the machine. We also loved how you know exactly how much resistance you’re working against. The Total Gym does have more levels available, but we would love to know how much resistance is actually challenging us.
However, the Total Gym G5 proved to be very impressive when taking into account other features, which all started with the appearance. It wouldn’t look out of place in a commercial gym and looks very high-quality as the fantastic designs certainly shines through.
As you start to assess the levels of comfort and support the Total Gym again came out on top. The ergonomic design and padded pillow give the G5 the edge here and make sure you’re comfortable as you exercise.
Finally, we also liked how the G5 had a bigger range of exercises available. To be completely honest you can do some of the same exercises on the Weider, but whereas the Weider make you search for them, the G5 puts their training deck front and center and give you access to Total Body TV so you can follow along at home, making it much easier for you to pick and carry out your routine.
Overall the higher user weight limit and the inclusion of the training cards just tipped the G5 over the edge as the winner, but make no mistake; both machines are capable of giving you a great exercise experience from the comfort of your own home and you can’t go wrong with either one.
Adjustable benches like these are low-impact and can be great for people of all ages and abilities allowing you to work on your fitness from home, without having to join a gym.
We assessed many different areas and after considering everything, we felt the Total Body G5 Bench just edged out the Weider.
Having a single piece of equipment that you can use to literally train every part of your body is a huge bonus for anyone looking to exercise from home and improve their fitness and as It allows you to cut down on equipment you can also keep your costs low as you won’t have to buy new weights, dumbbells, or alternative machines.
If you’re looking for a do it all machine that’s big enough to support you as you bench, squat, and row, but compact enough to slide under your bed when not in use then you can’t go wrong with either bench.
The only thing left to do Is decide which one you think will serve you best, then sit back and relax as you enjoy all the benefits of working out in the gym, from the comfort of your own home.
